Death and suffering are for Nelligan
ways for poetry,
ways to voice his vulnerability and, yet, his strength.
« The soft sound of the complaint must,
even while suffering, impregnate and elutriate
the pains, in such a way that it could seem
that it is worth suffering like this
so this complaint can be heard.
Such is the soft melody, the chant in any art ».
Hegel
Since, this poem has been made into a song
by Claude Léveillée, and sang by Monique Leyrac.
